"Within every woman there lives a powerful force, filled with good instincts, passionate creativity, and ageless knowing. She is the Wild Woman, who represents the instinctual nature of women. But she is an endangered species.
In Women Who Run With the Wolves, Dr. Estés unfolds rich intercultural myths, fairy tales, and stories, many from her own family, in order to help women reconnect with the fierce, healthy, visionary attributes of this instinctual nature. Through the stories and commentaries in this remarkable book, we retrieve, examine, love, and understand the Wild Woman and hold her against our deep psyches as one who is both magic and medicine.
Dr. Estés has created a new lexicon for describing the female psyche. Fertile and life-giving, it is a psychology of women in the truest sense, a knowing of the soul.

Our first gathering will be a pot-luck dinner at 6:00 pm on Friday, October 4, 2019. We will convene the first Circle after we have eaten together. The focus of that first Circle will be the Introduction and Chapter One.
Every subsequent gathering will be on the first Monday of the month, starting November 4th.
We will meet at my home at #25 West Heights Drive, Didsbury, AB.
We will do our best to start promptly at 6:30 and close the Circle by 8:30-ish so that it’s still relatively early for people who don’t want to be out on the roads too late at night. The invitation to stay longer is always extended!
We will decide as a group whether we will take a break over the summer or continue meeting in July and August.
It will take 15 gatherings to work our way through the book which means we will be going deeper and deeper into community over the span of a year and a half.
For that reason, I ask that you make a firm commitment to the group and this process and the field we are weaving together by doing your absolute best to attend every Circle. I recognize that, life being what it is, that might not always be possible, and I ask that you do your absolute best to attend every gathering.
This is soul-reclaiming work. One of the ways we participate in the fracturing of our own souls is when we don't show up fully for ourselves. Which also affects the people journeying with us. We are holding space for each other’s growth and transformation and every absence is keenly felt.
Participation is by donation.
There will be a basket made available each month for your offerings,
which may vary depending on the demands on your pocketbook that month
and the wish to give back, in gratitude, for the changes you are experiencing in your life because of this work. I ask you please to balance what you think you can offer with the knowledge that Jamie is driving from Calgary every month
to bring this potent Medicine to us and has put out considerable resources, financial and otherwise, in order to study with Dr. Estés.
If you have already read this book, this is an opportunity to re-experience it in the company of other women with a guide who has soaked up every ounce of wisdom she could glean from Dr. Estes herself.
If you have never experienced this book, prepare to be nourished in ways you didn't think possible.
If this resonates with you, please let me know.
If you know of anyone who is ripe for this type of exploration, please pass this on to them. I would love for there to be representatives from all life stages. I’m traveling with a lot of Crones these days, but there’s room — and a need — for Mothers and Maidens and Warriors and Wise Women of all ages. Please, invite your daughters and any young women you know (or young people identifying as female or who resonate with the Divine Feminine). We need their voices, energy, and passion.
If you want to come to the initial pot-luck gathering to see if this is actually a fit for you, you are definitely welcome to dip your toe in before committing to the full plunge. Please let me know that, too.
I already have my copy of Women Who Run With the Wolves but, in an effort to support my favourite indie bookstore, Owls Nest Books in Calgary, I would be happy to make a bulk order of books for anyone interested. That order needs to be in by September 13th, so if you feel a resounding ‘yes’ when you read this, let me know if you want your name added to that book list. The price is $12 for mass market (the smallest paperback) and $24 for trade paperback. Even if you can’t join us in this journey, I’d be happy to add your order to the list. The book is definitely worth studying!
I’m so looking forward to this!
